#083; Congrats Senator-elect Brown
I don’t often indulge in politics here in Limbo, because this blog is about the art, music, and philosophies that bang around in the head of a 25 year old. However, I thought today was a great chance to point out this piece I wrote months ago, as to why I’m a Republican, how I believe that there are issues outside of social ones, and the strange reactions most give me when they find these things out!
In light of the GOP victory in Massachusetts, any thoughts?

I just read your “why I’m a Republican” post and I definitely agree and have experienced what you’re saying about stereotypes and being labeled one thing or another. What is great about what you say is that you’ve thought through where you stand on any issue. A lot of people don’t do that I find.
Being in DC there’s always politics talk going around, and so often I hear people repeating something someone in the media said as their own opinion. And they just haven’t thought about or are willing to consider what someone of the opposite opinion has to say. It’s actually disheartening because I have avoided getting into conversations about politics since it ends up looking like two talking heads on TV where people get upset at each other, don’t listen, and in the end lose respect for their fellow citizen.
Anyway, stereotypes still exist even in 2010 and then people assume whatever they want from them. The advice I go on is don’t let other people tell you who you are, what to believe in, or to speak your mind.
